Volunteering at Imagine

We Need You!

Are you a cinefile? Are horror, fantasy, science fiction and psychological thrillers your favorite genres? Would you like to experience working ‘behind the scenes’ at a large, international film festival? Then join our team as a volunteer of Imagine Fantastic Film Festival from October 23 to November 4!

English below

As part of the Imagine team you will be representing the festival and working with a close team of enthusiastic film fanatics, just like you! You can help us with the build-up and breakdown of the festival, the scanning of tickets, supervising the VR experiences or be the contact for our visitors, guests and filmmakers at the Information desk, car service or as a runner. There are even possibilities to see a lot of the festival program during your shift.

For the ultimate Imagine experience you will work 4 or more shifts (2 shifts is the minimum). A shift generally lasts 5 to 8 hours. The build-up is on October 23, 24 and 25. The 10-day festival will take place from October 25 to November 3 at De Filmhallen, LAB111 and Gallery Beeldend Gesproken. On November 4, LAB111 closes with the best films of the festival and there will be festival breakdown that day.

As a reward you will get free access to a lot of screenings, you will receive the exclusive Imagine Fantastic Film Festival T-shirt and there are several cozy gatherings to enjoy together before and during the festival. During your shift, we will ensure that you lack nothing.

Are you eager to volunteer at the festival? Then please apply as a volunteer and we will contact you no later than the beginning of September. If you are a new volunteer, we would like to invite you for an initial introduction and we can talk about all the volunteering possibilities. The minimum age is 16.

Would you like to participate in the festival with your association, club or fellow students? Then we would like to look at the possibilities of working together.

Job descriptions

FILM ATTENDANT
You will check the tickets when the visitors arrive at the cinema and distribute the ballots for the Silver Scream Award (the audience award). At the start of the screening, you will check the quality of the projection (subtitles, ratio, sound) and you can watch the movie yourself. At the end you collect the ballots. Nice job for those who like to welcome our audience, assist in de screening rooms and watch movies.

INFORMATION DESK
Are you active and helpful and do you enjoy answering all kinds of questions? Then you might be the ideal candidate for our information desk. Here you are the point of contact for all our guests, press and public. At this desk you are the main contact for visitors, guests and press for any questions about the festival. You must be well informed on the entire festival program and be able to provide information of various concerns. You receive guests and press and serve them well. Free tickets can also be picked up at the information desk and original Imagine merchandise can be purchased. Tickets for regular visitors will be sold and picked up at the box office of the FilmHallen and LAB111.

SUPERVISOR VR PROGRAM
This year we are again offering a full VR program. As a volunteer you will support, guide and inform the visitors before and during several VR experiences. You help visitors putting on and taking off the VR-equipment and provide help and explanations for the operation of the VR. You also provide the necessary guidance during the VR experiences. You will receive extensive instructions in advance to familiarize yourself fully with the VR technology. During the festival days you work together in a small team. There is always a technical employee on standby for troubleshooting. You can also contact him for questions and help. A fun and educational feature!

CREW CATERING
The crew catering ensures that the volunteers and crew get a nice lunch. You make lunch, pack it up and deliver it. No experience is necessary and you are guaranteed to get a lot of happy faces in return.

RUNNER
As a runner you do various jobs, ranging from assisting with the preparations for special events, doing an errand or chore, to helping out during busy times. It is a varied function, where you are expected to be flexible and able to switch quickly between different tasks.

BUILD UP & BREAK DOWN
The festival locations will need some build up work and preparations before the festival on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. You will help with the build-up and the decorating of the festival in De FilmHallen, LAB111 and VR exhibition. Think of signage by sticking stickers on floors and walls, placing banners and building the information desk. At the end of the festival you help break down and clean up everything. A great job for handy and creative go-getters who want to be involved in Imagine from start to finish.

CAR SERVICE
At Car service you work closely with the production team to quickly and professionally transport guests and items between different locations. A valid driver’s license and professional and hospitable demeanor are required for this position. You are an experienced driver and bring both our guests and materials back and forth neatly and safely.

PUBLIC SURVEY
You will actively approach the visitors of the festival to ask them for the email addresses for our public surveys. You will not need to survey the visitors themselves. Imagine will send out surveys after the festival with a questionnaire about the festival. The feedback from our visitors is of great value to us. You will help us to make the festival even better next year.

SOCIAL MEDIA REPORTER
As our Social Media Reporter you will work closely with our marketing staff. They are responsible for keeping our social media channels updated. Your activities will consist of covering the important events and activities by taking photos and making videos. A great task for your social media skills!
