For the first time, the final day of Imagine will also feature the very best short films from the festival—the films that often get overlooked because there are so many unmissable feature films and special guests to catch. We’ve gathered the absolute gems — the films that you, our audience, loved the most. From poetic animation to absurd comedy and bizarre, trippy experiences, this program has it all.
Told entirely from the perspective of a vape pen, Mike puffs around a dark vacation rental, illuminating it during an unusual blackout. A different kind of zombie film; fast-paced and silly, with great kills.
Death’s patience is tested when his sweet and gentle apprentice proves to be incapable of their task, leading them to seek professional help in the most unlikely of places. Heartfelt and gorgeous hand-drawn animation with genuine soul.
Charlotte is drawn into a spiraling labyrinth of repressed fantasies and dark secrets when she discovers that her husband has a hidden room in the family's garage.
In this dry comedic reduction of the manosphere, Frankie enters a near death-induced existential crisis and turns into a cosmic body full of phantasmagorical phallic processes.
Shipwrecked, an explorer stumbles onto a desolate Icelandic island ruled by a bloodthirsty witch, and learns curiosity really did kill the... well, almost everyone. A wild, wonderful mix of bunraku puppetry, stop-motion and rotoscope animation.
Still nursing a bad breakup, Charlie meets her friend Werther for coffee. Coffee turns into drinks, drinks to an unplanned night together, and Werther’s chemical help works almost too well. This absurd little short will catch you completely off guard.
A dying man seeks the ultimate release: a birth in reverse. Inspired by the director’s experiences in horror, where female bodies are framed as sites of violence, MAP serves as a reclamation of that image.
A VHS-store clerk’s nightly routine is filled with boredom and self-pity. To add some excitement to his self-proclaimed pathetic existence, he plays a game that leaves everything up to fate – but fate has some tricks up its sleeve.
