Jean Painlevé’s classic short The Octopus from 1928 is a sensory experience of science mixed with art. Through dreamlike, surrealist images, you’ll meet a bizarre tentacled creature: his eye, his suckers, the texture of his skin. You will see him change shape and colour. An intriguing early reflection on the intersection between man and beast, both alienating and fascinating.
At Imagine 2025, The Octopus will be shown before our special film concert, The Call of Cthulhu.
