DARKFIELD’s shows tour the world and haunt hundreds of thousands, but almost no one gets to see how they’re made. Until now. Two of the experts behind the magic are throwing open their toolbox and guiding you through the alchemy of immersive audio: how a room is built from nothing but sound, how a voice at your ear becomes a body in the dark, how a footstep placed just so turns a safe space unstable. Then they hand it over to you. You’ll get your hands on the same state-of-the-art binaural equipment (the strange dummy head that hears like we do) and, in small groups, you’ll play with distance until intimate becomes threatening. By the end of the workshop, you will have crafted a short experience of your own and unleashed it upon the room. What you leave with is not a formula but rather a way of listening: the craft of placing an audience at the very centre of a story and letting their imagination do the work. Few people can do this, and fewer still will teach it. Places are strictly limited, so book before the lights dim.
