Let's go on a journey through the definitive eras of Internet horror.
1.5 hours, a big screen, and a ride through the history of Internet horror lore. Mazes,SCPs,Analog horror, creepy Korean forward emails and much, much more! Join us as we look back at and flash forward to the specific digital flavours of horror the Internet has produced.
The Lost Internet shines a light on decades of online horror phenomena channeling our fascinations and fears. Shaping online mythology and defining Internet culture, they’ve already left a mark on our digital subconscious. The Lost Internet touches on distinct online sensations such as flash games, creepypasta, jump scares, and analog horror. We rolled our eyes at the chain mails threatening to kill our loved ones unless we forwarded them to ten different people, but hit send anyway, just in case. Through a collection of clips and short discussions, we will reflect on different Internet eras and how they shaped not only the web, but today’s definition of horror as a genre. After all – Backrooms (2026) wouldn’t be on our screens if not for its online predecessors.
In addition to this curated programme, The Lost Internet will include clips submitted by the audience through an open call, opening the floor for niche sub-eras and cultural diversity. We want to invite you to share your memories, ideas and theories on the development and influence of Internet horror, and to replicate the Lost Internet-format for future editions of Imagine. Let’s find all the phenomena floating around the World Wide Web.
