The last edition of De Nacht van de Wansmaak took place twelve years ago. Back then, dubious film genres like sexploitation, blaxploitation and naziploitation were still just about acceptable, although merely mentioning titles such as Breasts as Deadly Weapons and Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS already raised some eyebrows.
The role of questionable genres in film history has been debated long and hard. Cancelling may not be the answer; offering context is. That’s why De Nacht van de Wansmaak is back, to educate – and to entertain. Because in between laughing and cringing, you might actually learn something!
