We’re gearing up for the final weekend of the Imagine! Yesterday, we wrapped up Imagine Industry 2025 with a jam-packed reception at Bar Strangelove, where the winner of the Pitch Award was announced. Read – and see – more here.
And then we still have our ‘normal’, weird festival to enjoy. Did you cross the threshold into our VR programme at Hal West already? You can still do so today and tomorrow! Of course, today’s menu also includes plenty of fresh horror (Hold the Fort), found footage (Kinki, Man Finds Tape), and all sorts of physical discomfort (From Beyond, Mother’s Baby). You sure won’t get bored waiting for tomorrow evening’s Closing Film (No One Will Know). And on Sunday, catch up on what you missed at The Best of Imagine.
Films of the day
The team behind Re-Animator waited less than a year to treat fans to From Beyond, a delightfully disrespectful and unhinged Lovecraft adaptation in which monstrous creatures from another dimension invade ours. A perfect conclusion to our A Tentacular Touch theme programme, this afternoon at 14:20 in LAB111.
In Hold the Fort (14:30 in LAB111), new homeowners Lucas and Jenny run into a minor problem. No, not rats or a leaky roof: their new house was built on a gateway to hell that opens once a year. Their uninvited guests include witches, werewolves, and kung fu ghosts. A perfect – and hilarious – recipe for bloodbath.
Don’t tell us motherhood is a dream. Most horror filmmakers turn it into a nightmare. Rosemary’s Baby set the bar, and Jan Verdijk recently added a Dutch touch to the genre with Kind. In Mother’s Baby (tonight at 19:00 in LAB111), a mysterious fertility clinic seriously fuels a young mother’s slumbering paranoia.
Found footage horror has been declared dead countless times, but Kinki (this afternoon at 16:30 in LAB111) and Man Finds Tape (tonight at 19:00, also in LAB111) prove otherwise. In the latter, Texan Lucas goes viral with a video tape full of creepy goings-on that he finds in the shed of his deceased parents. Together with his sister Lynn, he uncovers a dark, decades-old secret.
