Roger Corman's pulpy but haunting tale of a man who wanted to see everything... and got what he wanted.
Dr James Xavier develops a serum to expand human eyesight beyond its normal range. When his funding gets cut, he decides to test his product himself and boy does it work! He sees through clothes; then walls; then flesh and bone. Finally, his vision starts unravelling reality itself.
Roger Corman’s cult classic X runs on cheap coloured gel effects and a concept simple enough to fit inside your pocket, but it plays like a charm. It’s a timeless story of a man convinced that more knowledge means more wisdom, until he's proven otherwise. Ray Milland (The Lost Weekend) – long after his Oscar-winning prime – throws himself into the madness as Xavier, and X's final scene remains one of genre cinema's more unsettling images. A man really shouldn’t see too much.
