A haunted family home’s secrets refuse to remain buried.

Sound engineer Joan (Sasha Frolova) returns to her ancestral New England estate to care for her incapacitated father. When she starts looking into her mother’s mysterious disappearance, Joan discovers malevolent secrets linking her family history to the occult. How’s that for a skeleton in the closet?

In his feature film debut Recluse, writer-director Henry Chaisson creates a deeply atmospheric, sophisticated horror experience, with slow-burning, suffocating dread as his main tool. Anchored by a compelling performance from Sasha Frolova as a sound engineer lured by cryptic family secrets and otherworldly recordings, the film masterfully synthesizes wonderfully layered sound design with haunting, disquieting visuals. By artfully intertwining haunted house tropes with a piercing, poignant examination of obsession and intergenerational trauma, Recluse distinguishes itself as a uniquely immersive and unnerving addition to the modern horror canon.
