Claustrophobic and introspective sci-fi about a pregnant woman in space.

Ursula has spent her life doing soul-crushing work at scientific space station Alexandria. When yet another station-led mistake leads to her banishment, Ursula sets off in her retro spaceship, desperately searching for the father of her unborn child. Space is hostile, but she finds help where she least expects it.

Phase, British director Jessica Vogt’s claustrophobic debut feature, was written during the lockdown and independently funded. The entire film takes place aboard Ursula’s retro-futuristic spaceship, which hints at Alien and Moon. This paranoid and introspective sci-fi drama, clearly inspired by Stanisław Lem’s novel Solaris, paints a dark but painfully familiar picture of a future filled with capitalist exploitation and bureaucracy. Ursula quickly realises that her exile enables her to operate outside of the system and starts searching for the truth behind the Alexandria – once humanity’s greatest hope.

Short film: Atom & Void

A spider’s peaceful life is disrupted by a repeated rumbling. As she steps out of her burrow, the bigger picture is cosmic in proportion. A surprising tale of a creature in an unexpected place in space and time.
