A compelling and propulsive dystopian thriller based on the Canadian residential school system.

It's 2043. A military occupation controls disenfranchised cities in post-war North America. Children now belong to the state. A desperate Cree woman joins an underground band of vigilantes to infiltrate a residential school and get her daughter back. A female-driven dystopian drama about resilience, courage and love.

The story of Night Raiders echoes the forced assimilation of Indigenous children by colonial powers in Canada, the US, Australia and other countries. In the shape of a dystopian thriller, Cree director Danis Goulet recounts the shameful history of Canada’s residential schools and the mark this system has left on its native communities. Using science fiction tropes in an entertaining style geared towards a general audience, Goulet and his Indigenous cast address their country’s traumatic past. The director went on to create several episodes of the successful Indigenous series North by North and Reservation Dogs.
