Wake up inside a dream, take hold of it, and learn to surf its wave.
You wake from a nightmare into a dream you can shape. With the help of a trusty companion, you’re taught the art of lucid dreaming: how to know you are dreaming, how to steady your vision, and how to bend it to your will before it slips away.
Director Vier draws each world by hand, inspired by anamorphosis, optical illusions and Escher-like geometry. The result is a stroll down a yellow brick road made of surreal yet tender and enchanting dreams. Here, lucidity is a skill you can improve: hold onto it, and you’ll settle into your new body, lift off the ground, draw shapes across the sky, and ride the waves. Lose it, and the dream shrugs you off, leaving you on the shore until you’re ready to paddle back in. The pleasure is in the fragile control; the headset is like a magic carpet, steering you through the dream as you please.
