A journalist is pitted against a social media phenomenon in a funny battle of wits, outrage and violence.

Social media star Magalie is on her way to an isolated retreat in the mountains after one of her social media pranks went terribly wrong. But her plans of hiding out the scandal are soon thwarted when she’s contacted by a journalist hell-bent on an interview and some dedicated local superfans.

Director Quentin Dupieux returns to his signature surreal fun and violence after a brief sojourn into meta-philosophical comedies. The Piano Accident is as absurd as it’s wonderful, centering on Adèle Exarchopoulos’s glorious rendition of Magalie, a woman who’s endearingly childlike and absolutely revolting in equal measure. Exarchopoulos’s combination of excessive tics, vicious energy and teen awkwardness ensure Magalie won’t be forgotten any time soon. A fantastically cringy comedy of manners with some truly unhinged violence – Dupieux’s back in full effect!
