Corey Harlan awakens in what seems to be an ordinary British terraced house. It turns out to be a bizarre machine, however, with every door opening onto strange, violent and war-filled worlds. Joining Harlan in his search for answers is Aclima, a mysterious interdimensional being.
Ben Wheatley is back (and our Guest of Honour this year)! The British director, known for genre-defying films like Kill List, Sightseers, High Rise and Free Fire, returns with a high-concept science-fiction film about a failed string theory experiment. Shot in secret and in crisp black and white, Bulk is a trippy brain teaser filled with hand-drawn animation, collages and practical effects, making it feel like an experimental film from the 60's or 70's. The small cast – led by British actor Sam Riley (Control) and German actress Alexandra Maria Lara (Der Untergang) – fearlessly embrace Wheatley’s offbeat vision, diving into a world of scientific puzzles, high-speed chases and shoot-outs.
