With a special storyteller intro by Soula Notos. Supernatural forces wreak havoc on a young mother’s life in unnerving Iranian feminist horror film.

Young mother Shideh lives amidst the chaos of the Iraq-Iran war. Her husband works as a doctor in the war, so she’s raising her daughter alone. When a missile hits their apartment building, Shideh gets sick. She becomes convinced that the unexploded rocket is cursed. An unnerving, feminist horror film.

In this atmospheric British Oscar entry, a woman is left behind while her husband serves in the Iraq-Iran war. The frustration of this single mother who is judged at every turn by her community comes to a head when she becomes convinced that an evil Jinn has moved into their apartment. Against an ominous background of violence, the film mostly focuses on the maddening pressure on the woman. The gradually increasing tension of the film is nerve-racking. In the context of the current, female-led revolution in Iran, horror has rarely felt this relevant.
