Enter the world where the only road to enlightenment leads through absolute immersion.

Jimi is a VR game designer, whose latest creation becomes sentient and turns to its maker to break a vicious loop of replays and euthanize it. Going against the interests of his publisher, Jimi immerses himself in the underground world of tech-wizards and hackers, putting his own identity at stake.

Cast against the backdrop of other VR-related movies, Nirvana is an odd one out, metaphorically equating the respawning of game characters on replays with the suffering of humans caught up in the spiral of suffering and grief. Rather than focusing on the technology itself, it focuses on the destructive impact of the mental states and traumas brought to the virtual experiences by its users. As such, it presents a unique perspective on the process of onboarding in VR. Drawing inspiration from Buddhism, the film explores the idea of letting go of the sense of self to be the necessary condition of immersion.
