Smart and pointed satire about being famous, starring Nicolas Cage in his best role in years.

Paul is an unhappy professor and family man, who craves recognition. His life is turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly see him appearing in their dreams. He becomes an instant celebrity, but his new status becomes volatile when the dreams turn into nightmares.

With Sick of Myself (last year’s closing film at Imagine), Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli already made a satire on the cult of narcissism and social media. With Dream Scenario he takes it one step further: the story of a somewhat dorky professor who becomes an overnight celebrity, pokes fun at ideas of masculinity, social media, the obsession with celebrities, and cancel culture. As in his previous film, Borgli perfectly captures the zeitgeist and the satire is pointed and smart. The director is aided in this by Nicolas Cage, in his best role in years.
