From barbarian filmmaker Mandico, an alchemical tale of love, identity, and death - the chronicles of Conann!
Rainer the dog (Elina Löwensohn) guides us through a transcendent alchemical tale of art, love, identity, and death - the chronicles of Conann (Claire Duburcq, Sandra Parfait, Agata Buzek, Nathalie Richard, Françoise Brion), deviant, barbarian, queen - as we follow her through the ages, from the Sumerian era and into the future.
In Mandico’s own words, Conann is in a way the conclusion to a trilogy he started with The Wild Boys (2017) representing Paradise, After Blue (2021) representing Purgatory, and now Conann… Hell! Initially thought of as a live stage play (cancelled during the 2020 pandemic), Conann is the re-imagined tale of Conan the Barbarian (1982) with a transgressive gender-fuck twist along with his unmistakably recognizable aesthetic. What Mandico brings to the screen is a total experience for all the senses, an epic journey soaked in blood, drenched in glitter, and dripping with all the love Cinema can give. All Hail Conann!
