A woman is on the run from an honour killing in a suspenseful thriller that throws social and cultural issues into the mix.

Ayse is caught with her lover by her husband, a policeman. She needs to run, as it's not just her husband who's after her - it's all his friends. What they're after is nothing less than killing her to save the honour. In a hostile environment, Ayse doesn’t know who to ask for help. Suspenseful thriller throws social and cultural issues into the mix.

This Turkish thriller is very simple in its set up: a woman is on the run from her killers. But it’s the setting of rural Turkey that provides the framework that enables the director to comment on the traditional values of Turkish families and institutions. Ayse cannot expect help from the police or a bus driver and it becomes clear that the practice of honour killings is passed on from one male generation to the other. These social and political issues are wrapped in a suspenseful thriller that takes its cues from rape/revenge films like I Spit On Your Grave. It’s a film that delivers all the goods: well paced, tightly edited and with great use of the vast and gorgeous landscapes.
