The winners of the 29th Imagine: Wolf Children from Japan, Fin from Spain, Citadel from Ireland and the Belgium short Perfect Drug. Audience Favourite (and winner of the Silver Scream Award) was The Battery.

Imagine's first winners!
Once again this year, Imagine received fantastic entries from all over the country for the Time Capsule Award competition – the award for the best alternative 30-second Imagine trailer. All 13 entries were just as diverse, colourful, surreal, atmospheric or imaginative as the festival itself.

Imagine's guest of honor: Neil Jordan
This year’s recipient of Imagine Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award is the Irish director Neil Jordan. The award will be presented to him on opening night. The following afternoon there will be a masterclass, followed by a screening of his latest film: Byzantium.

Closing film
The 29th Imagine Film Festival will close on Wednesday, April 17, with the Dutch premiere of THE GRANDMASTER by Wong Kar Wai (IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE). This visually stunning film is a martial arts drama as well as a tragic love story, starring Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi. Earlier this year, THE GRANDMASTER opened the Berlin Film Festival.

Preview Tour: vampires in the Netherlands
Together with distributor Cinéart, Imagine provides a taster for the festival by organising a preview tour of the fantasy thriller Byzantium by Neil Jordan (Interview with the Vampire, The Crying Game). From March 26 until April 7, the film will be shown in 17 film theatres, and then of course at the festival itself.

Beware: psychotic women
The history of film is fraught with neurotic characters, but extra attention is given to the role of female neuroses. Canadian journalist Kier-La Janisse wrote a book about this, which inspired Imagine to a sidebar programme.
